Uttarkashi, June 26, 2025 — The search for the missing victims of the recent landslide near Naukainchi on the Yamunotri pedestrian route continues for the third day. Rescue teams from NDRF, SDRF, police, and revenue departments resumed their operations early Thursday morning, now with the help of sniffer dogs.
🐾 Search Efforts Intensify:
Teams are combing through debris and boulders, hoping to locate the two people still missing after the landslide that occurred on Monday.
Earlier rescue work had already recovered one injured person from Mumbai and two bodies, identified as a father and daughter from Jaunpur.
🌧️ Weather & Rescue Challenges:
Despite clear weather today across Uttarkashi and Yamunotri, earlier rains had hampered the search efforts.
NDRF Inspector Sanjay Singh confirmed that search operations are being led by SI Gaurav Rathi, using both manual digging and sniffer dog support.
⚠️ Appeal for Caution:Local authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and urge all Char Dham travelers to remain cautious, as the region is still vulnerable to landslides.
