Landslide on Yamunotri Route Kills 3, Including 12-Year-Old Girl

A sudden landslide on the Yamunotri trekking route near Nau Kanchi and Bhairav Temple brought the Char Dham Yatra to a standstill on Monday, killing three pilgrims, including a 12-year-old girl, and leaving others feared trapped under debris.
🪨 What Happened:
Around 4 PM, heavy rainfall triggered a landslide on the foot route between Janki Chatti and Yamunotri
Massive boulders and mud rolled down the slope, burying a section of the path
Panic spread among the thousands of devotees trekking the sacred route
🕯️ Lives Lost:
Three pilgrims died, one of them a 12-year-old girl
One injured man, Rasik from Mumbai, was pulled out and taken to Janki Chatti PHC
Authorities believe more people could still be trapped under the rocks
🚨 Rescue Operation in Full Swing:
SDRF, NDRF, local police, and medical teams are all on the scene
The operation continued overnight under floodlights to locate missing persons
Large boulders are being manually cleared with support from local villagers
🛑 Impact on Char Dham Yatra:
The Yamunotri route is officially closed until conditions are safe
Pilgrims en route have been halted at various points
Meanwhile, landslides have also blocked parts of the Badrinath highway, adding to the disruption
